As I write this blog, Ned is in the living room watching coverage of Michael Jackson's funeral. Like the rest of the world, he has been fascinated by the coverage surrounding his death. Heck, even my mom watched the whole funeral on TV today (which I understand took quite a while). Anyway, whatever you think of the Michael Jackson of recent years, if you are my age, you can't deny that Michael Jackson was a big part of your life when you were growing up. Some of my favorite Michael Jackson memories:
In college, I kept a mix tape loaded in my tape deck that would immediately start playing when I started my car in the morning. The first song was "PYT" by Michael Jackson and I would blast it on high volume whether I was going to work or class. It always could put me in a good mood. In fact, it still does. A older lady I worked with at the bank where I worked during college had to borrow my car one time and she came back to work smiling saying that she had enjoyed jamming to MJ on the way to run her errand. Try it yourself; you'll see what I mean.
My little brother kept the wall of his room covered with Michael Jackson posters. I'm thinking he was only like 8 years old at the time. At least I hope so.
Being fascinated by the video for "Thriller". It came out when I was in high school and that was back in the day when kids really cared about music videos. Oh, how I miss the simpler times. (Doesn't that sound like something your parents would say?).
I could go on and on if I really thought about it. Such a sad story.
Love,
Allie
