Young love and an old Ford
Cheap shades and a tattoo
And a Yoo-Hoo bottle on the floorboard
Perfect song on the radio
Sing along 'cause it's one we know
It's a smile, it's a kiss
It's a sip of wine, it's summertime.
"Summertime" -Kenny Chesney
Ahhh. Sweet summer. So glad you're here.
Actually, that's a load of crap. While the rest of my family looks forward to it, summer isn't anything special for me. First of all, I get to watch the other three members of my family (even Jack who's sporting a farmer's tan) turn a lovely shade of honey because they all got the "tan gene." I, on the other hand, will only get a sunburn and freckles if I'm out in the sun for too long. Second, while work has slowed down for Ned, there's really no appreciable difference in workload for me (Not that I'm complaining, I've got it pretty good). Third, the things I enjoy (shopping, reading, etc.) are inside activities and, therefore, not warm weather dependent.
Anyway, summer seems to be in full swing for the Skinners. The kids have been to the pool just about every day that it doesn't rain. Last night, we grilled and ate outside. Plus, corn is in season and Ned and Samantha love corn. Here's Jack helping his daddy shuck the corn:
As we speak, Ned, Tara, Samantha, and Aunt Ginny are at a Salem Red Sox game. Because of the proximity to Jack's bedtime (and for other reasons that you will guess if you know me at all), Jack and I stayed back. I didn't want the night to be a total bust for him so we went for a long ride on the golf cart.
I'm having a LOT of trouble posting pics to blogger. But, after much effort, I managed to get these two posted. Nothing special - just recent pics of two very cute kids.
I love them when they're like this. All clean and fresh after their baths. And for those of you who know Ned's philosophy, it was an actual bath and NOT a swim in the pool (which Ned considers the equivalent of a bath).
