Today was Good Friday which meant that daycare was closed. Because I had to work (Good Friday is about the only holiday that other people get and federal employees don't), Ned had the kids all day. And to give credit where it is due, I think the kids had a lot of fun because he took them to 1) the VT women's softball game; 2) the VT women's tennis meet; and 3) out to eat. Because both kids like to be "on the go," it was better than being at daycare. Now whether Ned's career will survive is another matter. Apparently, at the tennis match, Jack was so loud that people kept looking at them until they left. I think when the athletes would swing and grunt, Jack took that as his cue to make some noise.
Speaking of Jack, he is still not walking on his own. However, he is pretty good about getting around. So much so that we are going to have to put a baby gate upstairs because he is just too fast. He will walk around holding onto things and he is a master at crawling. And another common mode of transportation for baby Jack is his big sister. Please observe:
I know we shouldn't encourage Samantha to carry Jack around but I have to admit Ned and I have both been guilty of having her bring him to us when we were too lazy to get up. Plus, I'm afraid her willingness to pick him up and carry him provides a disincentive to his walking on his own. And, not to compare one kid to another, but Samantha was walking when she was Jack's age. I figure the problem might work itself out on its own though because it won't be long before Jack weighs more than Bear.
Love,
Allie
