Electronically challenged

Ned and I are a couple of losers when it comes to having up-to-date electronics. Here are a couple of interesting tidbits:

1) Until this summer, our primary TV in our family room was a 26- or so inch hand-me-down from somebody on Ned's side of the family. This was our primary TV for the almost 10 years we've lived together. We splurged and bought a 37-inch flat screen this summer. It was the biggest TV that would actually fit in our armoire and I didn't care what Ned said, that armoire wasn't going anywhere.

2) The TV in our basement: also a hand-me-down from Ned's grandparents. We've had it the entire time we lived in our house.

3) The TV in our bedroom was a 21 or so inch model. We had to squint to see the fine print sometimes. We have since moved up the 26 inch described in #1 above.

4) I've had an iPod sitting by this computer ever since I set up the computer a month or so ago. I bought the iPod in the spring. It's still not loaded; don't know how.

5) The stereo equipment in our sunroom which was connected to our outdoor speakers was either from Ned's high school or college days. We're not exactly sure which.

You get the picture.

In any event, we were going to update the audio in the sunroom (see #5) so we went to Best Buy. Honestly, I think the salesman must have thought I was the dumbest chick he ever met. I'm looking at the home theater equipment and didn't even have a clue. Back when I was in high school and college, bigger speakers = better sound system. Not so today. The smaller the speakers, the better. Plus, there were only about 3 or 4 CD changers. Everybody uses iPods. Basically, Ned ended up handling this transaction while I looked at cds. I wasn't a lot of help. My only contribution was to tell Ned to spend the money to get exactly what he wanted. He's the one constantly lamenting "our ghetto electronics" and I don't want to hear about it anymore. I think he did a good job although between returns and working out the kinks it became a several day affair.

So, we're at Best Buy and they have several displays promoting the new Guns n Roses cd, Chinese Democracy. The ads tout it as "the most anticipated album of all time." Now, come on. Of all time??? Seriously, Axl? Who are you kidding? I'm more excited about the new Imagination Movers cd.

Ned and Bear went to the Hokie men's basketball game tonight. Bear was so excited to see the princesses (that's what she calls the cheerleaders). Apparently they weren't there but she was still ok because she got M&Ms. Oh to be 4 years old again.

Love,
Allie
