Daddy's got a coupon

Jack Skinner did NOT have a good day. I was working from home this afternoon and got a call from daycare that Jack was running a slight fever. I told them to watch it and give me a call if he got worse. About two hours later I got the phone call to come and pick him up. When I got there he was in Ms. Kathy's arms and he looked so pitiful. It was clear that he needed some of his Mommy's love.

Wednesday is also the day that Bear has Cherub Choir practice at church so I always pick her up early on Wednesdays anyway. It made little sense to pick up Jack at 3pm and go back to get Samantha at 5pm and then take them both to church. So, I brought them both home until we headed to church for choir. I told Ned to meet me at church when he was done with practice so that Jack could come on home.

When Ned got to the church he wanted to watch the practice because he never gets to see it. I'm the one who always takes Bear to Cherub Choir. So, Jack basically chilled in his carseat for the half hour of choir practice.

We had also planned to grab something quick for dinner and get the kids home. However, Ned kept insisting that we go to Moe's Southwest Grill. I couldn't understand why he would want to go to Moe's. First, it's not take-out or drive-thru so we would have to sit through dinner and Jack was not feeling well. Second, parking in downtown Blacksburg is not that easy. Third, it was frighfully cold and we have two little kids. Anyway, after giving me little choice in the matter, we wind up at Moe's. Then I figured out what was behind the sudden urgency surrounding Moe's: Ned had a coupon for a free entree. Granted, we really like Moe's. But, for me, it's usually too much trouble with the parking and college students. It must have been Ned's lucky day because Jack was an angel through dinner.

I tried to give Jack some Tylenol for his fever but he kept letting it dribble out of his mouth. As we took his temperature, we would get anywhere from 96 degrees to 103 degrees. We were using the ear thermometer because doing it rectally really scares us. I guess we would do it if we absolutely had to.

Anyway, hopefully the night will end on a better note. New original episode of Law and Order coming on at 10pm.

Love,
Allie
