Facebook

Yesterday my mom hosted her side of the family (the Atkins family) for their annual Christmas get together. She had the event at our house since it's centrally located for most people. Anyway, it was great to see my aunts, uncles, cousins, and their little ones. As always, there was WAY too much food (I told my mom but she never listens). Here are some pics from the day:

Ned, ever the Director of Entertainment, took the kids for rides on the golf cart. They were pretty excited because he also drove them up to the club and let them sit at the bar and order hot chocolate. He really is great with kids.

Our kids had a great time. As you can see, they were completely worn out.

My cousin Michelle looked at my blog while she was here and started telling me about Facebook and how I could get in touch with people and see pics of their family. It sounded so good and easy that I signed up while she was here. It's a pretty amazing service which I don't fully understand but I'm going to try to get up to speed. Here's the glitch. When I signed up, I used my work email because it's the one I use everyday. When I got to work on Monday morning, I had about 30 emails and there was a lot going on at work. I changed my email address to my Yahoo one and everything has been fine since then. I don't think I can keep up with facebook and this blog on a regular basis but I figure I can update the blog and refer my facebook friends to it.

On a grimmer note, remember my earlier post about the magical date night that Ned and I had last Friday. What I didn't mention was that we both brought home leftovers. I had the flank steak and he had filet and crab. I had my leftovers with Samantha for lunch on Saturday. Ned, however, didn't open his box up until today for lunch. When he did, he discovered a chicken skewer; no filet with crab. Obviously, there was a major mix-up. When he told me (after I got home from work), I immediately started freaking out that I had eaten someone else's leftovers. I started imagining all the terrible diseases that I was going to get and called Bookbinders to start yelling at a manager. The manager I got was apologetic but I was having none of that; I wanted blood. Ned told me that he thought I was going over the top. Apparently, he thought I was faking my hysteria to get a free meal. He didn't believe that I was really worried that I had eaten someone else's food. I had him call his sister in Florida, who's a doctor, to see if she thought I needed to do something. She basically told me that IF I had eaten someone else's food that I would be alright unless they had something like hepatitis and were bleeding from their gums while they were eating their flank steak. A pretty gross scenario but it did calm me down. I don't know if I'm going to recommend Bookbinders for a while and I'm definitely checking my doggie bag BEFORE I leave a restaurant from now on.

One more workday and then I'm off until next Wednesday. We're going to Florida to visit Ned's family on Christmas day. So, with the general hysteria of Christmas and being out of town, I'm not sure how much I'll be able to blog for a while. In case I'm not back on, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Love,
Allie
