In any event, Ned took her to the Doughnut Shop on the way to taking the kids to school. He also picked up a dozen doughnuts for the teachers at the daycare/preschool; I understand this made him something of a celebrity. When I picked Bear up from school for Cherub Choir, this was our conversation:
Mom: How was your day?
Bear: Good. We went to the doughnut shop on the way to school.
Mom: Cool. How many doughnuts did you get?
Bear: One and a half. I got a Hokie doughnut and half a twist (the other
half apparently goes to Daddy).
Mom: Did you take doughnuts to the teachers?
Bear: Yes. The teachers in the baby room ate the Hokie doughnuts. Ms. Becky
had a peanut doughnut. Ms. Judy had a blueberry doughnut. . . .
Here's my point. This kid can't ever remember what she had for lunch or snack two hours ago but she can break down which teacher took which doughnut. I hope when they start teaching her addition in school, they do it by asking her to add doughnuts.
Cherub choir was the deluxe version tonight as the choir practiced with the orchestra and other choirs for the big Christmas program coming up on Sunday. I think it should be a good service although I'm worried about the cherubs. They can't stop turning their backs to the audience because they want to stare at the orchestra and choirs behind them. Bear actually did not do this because I threatened her beforehand AND I was in the audience staring her down the whole time. She kept making eye contact with me and I would give her a "thumbs up." I'll be anxious to tell you how it goes.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town was on tv tonight. Bear, Jack, and Daddy are watching it together upstairs while I do some work on the computer (including this post). Check them out.
I'm wondering if Ned will make it through the first 15 minutes. He has practice tomorrow morning. I, on the other hand, have a hot date with Law and Order at 10pm.
Love,
Allie
