March madness

It's March Madness in the Skinner household (and I'm not talking about basketball). It has been and looks to be a crazy busy month for both Ned and me professionally. For example, the last full week of March we both have to go out of town for work- - me to Richmond and Ned to College Station, Texas. So it looks like Bear and Jack are spending some quality time with Nana and Papa. Plus, Ned and I are both stressed because of work. Hopefully, we're not taking it out on the kids.

Why are we so busy? Well, as you know, I'm not permitted to discuss my job. But for all the former law clerks who are reading this, you know why. As for Ned, two weeks away at NCAAs doesn't help.

As predicted, yesterday was a very busy day driving to and from Charleston. In order to combat fatigue, I drank A LOT of caffeinated beverages so that I could stay awake while driving. This backfired on me as I was driving home. I was coming down I-77 and it was already dark when I started to get really nauseous. I was in one of those spots where there were miles between exits. Anyway, suffice it to say, a cup was used as a receptacle and there was some splattering on my dress clothes. You get the picture. But, after that, I felt better. I did, however, lay off coffee for the rest of the night.

I worked today. Ned and the kids are on the way home. The reports that I got coming out of Chapel Hill were that Bear was a hit on the pool deck. Apparently a four-year-old on the pool deck is a novelty at a college swim meet. Lots of swimmers from other schools were giving her cookies and drinks. Basically, she sat on the pool deck watching "Camp Rock" and ate junk food. I believe she told me she had watched "Camp Rock" four times so far.

I'm adding a little musical feature to the blog so consider this your warning to turn down the volume. I'm going to see if I like it. The songs are favs of mine. Except for the "High School Musical" one - - that's for Bear.

Oh, o.k. I admit it. I like it too.

Love,
Allie
