Look, in my opinion the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what-have-you. In the spirit of Valentine's Day and because Ned did something nice for one of my friends yesterday, I have decided to list 10 things I love about him. I'm sure there are more than 10 but I'm just hoping that I can come up with 10 pretty quickly. I'm reading Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict and would really like to get a couple of chapters in tonight.
1. Ned truly loves his kids. He really is the Director of Entertainment and genuinely enjoys doing fun things with them. (Because this is supposed to be only positive, I am stopping right here and not qualifying any of my list.)
2. He gets along extremely well with my family. (Of course, the access to football tickets helps).
3. He can take care of himself in social situations he finds himself in because of me. For example, when I went to my 20 year high school reunion, I was busy catching up with my friends and left him on his own for most of the night. I never had to worry about Ned being lonely or sitting around without anyone to talk to. He is very good at meeting people, etc. In fact, Ned got along so well with several people that he lined up a couple of outings with people he met for the first time that night. This is just one example but there are many. At another wedding for a friend of mine, he was having such a good time that I left him at the wedding and just came back to get him when it was over.
4. He likes to take me to get pedicures. This may be self-serving because he usually gets one too and can talk me into lunch at Five Guys.
5. He makes me laugh. A lot.
6. He tells people that "he married up." I'm not sure if he did but it's the right thing to say.
7. He constantly tries to plan fun things to do or quick getaways. (This can be a blessing and a curse. However, remember I'm not qualifying or explaining my answers.)
8. Massive cyst on my head/hemorrhoids when I was pregnant with Samantha. A couple has to have some secrets but he will know why I love him for this one.
9. Decent taste in music. He has pretty diverse musical tastes that mesh pretty well with my own.
10. He understands I need to have "my thing." Right now, my thing is watching new original episodes of Law and Order on Wednesday nights and Masterpiece Theater on Sunday nights. He knows that he needs to take the kids and leave me alone during these times.
Actually making a list of 10 things wasn't hard at all; I'm sure I could have come up with more. Don't go getting a big head Ned.
Stay tuned. He's getting ready to leave town for the better part of two weeks. I'm sure I'll be doing a list of 10 things I don't like about him soon.
